Role Summary

The successful candidate will be someone who can help identify and implement project
management policies and lead multiple small and large software/web application development projects from conceptualization to launch.

Experienced IT Project Manager with expertise in the life insurance domain to manage and ensure the successful execution of various IT projects. This role requires a professional with a deep understanding of both IT and the intricacies of the life insurance industry. You should have a background in business skills, management, budgeting, and analysis with an excellent communicator, and be comfortable managing multiple tasks. You also need to be a team player and have a problem-solving aptitude.

Responsibilities:

As a project manager in an insurance company with IT-related responsibilities, your role
involves overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of various projects. Your
responsibilities may include:

Project Planning:
Defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Creating a detailed project plan
including tasks, timelines, resources, and dependencies. Team Management:
Assembling and leading project teams, assigning tasks, and ensuring effective communication among team members.


Risk Management:
Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. Monitoring and
addressing issues that could impact project success.


Budgeting and Cost Control:
Estimating project costs, managing the budget, and ensuring that expenditures are within the allocated funds.

Stakeholder Communication:
Keeping stakeholders, including clients, upper management, and team members, informed about project progress, milestones, and potential changes.
Quality Assurance:
Setting and maintaining quality standards for project deliverables. Conducting regular
reviews and ensuring that the final output meets requirements.
Change Management:
Adapting to changes in project scope or objectives. Assessing the impact of changes and
implementing necessary adjustments.
Documentation:
Keeping thorough documentation of project plans, progress reports, meeting minutes, and
other relevant materials.
Time Management:
Monitoring project timelines and schedules, adjusting as needed to ensure timely completion.
Conflict Resolution:
Addressing conflicts within the team or with stakeholders and working to find mutually
acceptable solutions.
Post-Project Evaluation:
Reviewing the project’s outcomes, analyzing successes and areas for improvement, and applying lessons learned to future projects.
Governance:
Ensuring data security and compliance, and collaborating with IT security and risk

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree., preferably in the field of computer science
  • Proven working experience as a project management in the insurance and information technology sector
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and web technologies
  • Excellent written verbal, and internal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • PMP / PRINCE II certification or master’s degree in Project Management certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • >5 years’ experience in system development, and project service delivery and implementation.
  • Experience in the financial services industry (preferably Life Assurance) is a plus
  • Proven track record in successful leadership roles.

Key Skills:

  • At least 3 years experience in increasing project management responsibilities and successful project completions. Experience specific to software development is a big plus
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Project 2007 or project management tools for complex projects.
  • Understand how technical issues impact the business drivers and clearly communicate this information to all stakeholders
  • Ability to customize project management processes, tools, and templates as required for the project.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with all departments and at all levels of the organization, including senior management, and strong presentation and facilitation skills.

Key Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge of the financial services industry & and an understanding of the
    strategic issues facing the life industry
  • Understanding Business Architecture trends & best practice thinking (including SOA & BPM)
  • Understanding of / experience in Business & Enterprise Architecture standards & methods
  • Knowledge of problem analysis and structured analysis
  • Ability to understand business strategies, market & industry trends, legislative constraints & technology capability & translate them into business solutions
  • Ability to understand & and resolve complex, multi-faceted problems & and the ability to articulate complex or technical concepts & and issues in business terms.
